2019 Granada · Notas para un ensayo
La denominada Zambra Gitana es una danza festiva con carácter nupcial característica del barrio del Sacromonte, en Granada. La primera coreografía del mundo flamenco que data de mediados del siglo XIX y que enamoró perdidamente a los viajeros románticos, la Zambra es una elaborada y colorista puesta en escena, camino, a dia de hoy, de convertirse en Patrimonio Inmaterial de la Humanidad por la Unesco.
La primera Zambra del Sacromonte fue la de Los Amaya en 1900 y tras ella la de La Golondrina, aunque la primera manifestación de la Zambra en Granada la protagoniza Antonio Torcuato "Cujón" en 1850 en la Plaza del Humilladero. Digirida por una Capitana o Capitán, quien estructura y coreografía el espectáculo, la Zambra está formada por cantaores y cantaoras, guitarristas y de cuatro a seis bailaoras o bailaores, y se representa, principalmente, en las cuevas del Camino del Sacromonte. A día de hoy, muchas de esas cuevas se han convertido en restaurantes-tablaos de reconocido prestigio. De las más célebres en la actualidad, - y la que me ocupa en esta crónica visual -, es La Cueva de la Rocío, fundada por Andrés Maya Fajardo y Rocío Fernández Bustamante en 1951, y que sigue bajo la dirección de la familia Maya.
Esta breve crónica visual está dedicada a todos los artistas que figuran en ella y que se entregan en cuerpo y alma a mantener viva la cultura musical de los gitanos del Sacromonte.
Con - por orden de aparición - Isa Vega, Abraham Campos, Victor Fernández, Mercedes de Morón, Antonio el Turry, Eloy Heredia, Vero la India, Violeta Ruiz, La Paquera, Cristina Carrasco, Reyes Heredia, Rocío Vargas, Agustín de la Chica y Juan Andrés Maya.
The so-called Zambra Gitana is a festive dance with a nuptial character characteristic of the Sacromonte neighborhood, in Granada. The first choreography of the flamenco world that dates back to the mid-19th century and that fell in love with romantic travelers, the Zambra is an elaborate and colorful staging, on the way, today, to become Intangible Heritage of Humanity for the Unesco.
The first Zambra del Sacromonte was that of Los Amaya in 1900 and after that of La Golondrina, although the first manifestation of the Zambra in Granada is starred by Antonio Torcuato "Cujón" in 1850 in the Plaza del Humilladero. Directed by a Captain,- male or female -, who structures and choreographs the show, the Zambra is formed by cantaores and cantaoras, guitarists and four to six bailaoras or bailaores, and is represented, mainly, in the famous caves. Today, many of these caves have become restaurants-tablaos of recognized prestige. Of the most famous today, - and the one that concerns me in this brief visual chronicle - is La Cueva de la Rocío, founded by Andrés Maya Fajardo and Rocío Fernández Bustamante in 1951, and still under the direction of the Maya family.
This brief visual chronicle is dedicated to all the artists that appear in it and who give themselves body and soul to keep alive the musical culture of the Gyromes of the Sacromonte.
