Rockers
The experience of knowing and sharing friendship with personalities from the rockin' scene has leaded me to recover the practice of studio portrait. The square format stimulates again my sense of vision and accelerates my heart beats per minute: the faces and shapes, the gestures, the look, the complex postures, the natural lightning and the artificial one too. Living again the magic ritual of doing photography in the classic way as I learned, and in color, as I had never done before, chasing film influences in which the color defines the aesthetics of the image. Rockers, pin up girls, tattooists, burlesque dancers, musicians, bikers, DJ's, hotrodders... passionate lovers of both, original rock'n'roll and the 50's culture.
"Las miradas perdidas". Retratos 1997-2003
Photographing a face is like photographing an idea. In the studio, the concept of image is quite simple: through the expression, the shapes and gestures, the lights and colors, the wine that you drink and the music you listen... that creates an atmosphere that transmits the appropriate calm and tension to experience the snatch wanted vision, or at least this is the purpose. By then, I believed to overcome some of my fears photographing them... Nothing better than a photo exorcism to get rid of what, on the other hand, was giving me life...
